2 Weeks old, 500 miles, first fault

Featured Replies

I have my Yeti 2 weeks, still in love, but after only covering 500 miles when I now switch on the ignition it goes "BONG" and a sign flashes up on Maxidot "Change oil NOW!" The engine oil is clean and on the max, I have rung Simpson's Skoda and they are not concerned and have asked me to pop in to have a diagnostic check. I'm not bothered, I just dislike the warning sign after 500 miles and the fact I rarely go to Preston (Simpson's).

(Unless Skoda are now secretly using running in oil as of 60yrs ago, maybe I should have a "Running in, please pass" sticker in the back window!)

How are you finding the 1.2's power.

I haven't given it full power yet due to it's mileage, but it has the same engine as the Roomster I had and it is not lacking in power for the use I need it for. It quite happily climbed all the hills from Lancaster to Brough (Cumbria) last week using the M6 up Shap and also the climb up Ravenstone Dale. It hasn't the torque of my V8, but does nearly 3x the mpg! I think the 105 TSI engine linked to the DSG is a good combo. If I was doing long high speed motorway runs or towing I would have bought a smoky polluter. Cruising at 70mph, 105bhp is fine and dandy for me and it has plenty of reserve for acceleration out of trouble if required.

Smoke!? Feather dusters at ten paces if you please!

Perfume more likely.
