Fitted new drivers electric window mechanism, locks won't work

Featured Replies

Just fitted a new drivers electric window mechanism complete with the metal panel, windows now work OK.

However the electric door locks won't work using the remote,

When attempting to unlock by remote the electric locks judder but won't open any of the locks.

When pressing the remote to lock there is no response from the lock.

Attempting to close or open by the key activates the windows up & down.

What have I done wrong ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Anyone ?

I had a similar issue when replacing my drivers side window motor. I had found that I didn't put the door card on properly and it was holding Down the silver thing that let's you know if your doors are locked or not. It just wouldn't lock or unlock on either side. I just took the door card of and started again and it worked fine.

So do you still have the original lock mechanism in the door or another one that was supplied with the metal panel you fitted?

It's the same lock - After un-plugging the lock connector and re-plugging a couple of times I came to the conclusion that the plug must not have been fully pushed home, even though the connector would not pull apart.

I also disconnected the battery for 30 minutes too.

I suspect that it's got out of sync somehow. They tend to become out of sync if they have been unplugged and swapped about then the door button that pokes through the doorcard get pressed up and down when the door card goes on by accident. Fortunately I've never had to sort it out but I suspect it would be a bitch to do. Sorry I can't help anymore than that, but do hope you sort it out.

I had a similar issue with the door lock I replaced in my volvo which wouldn't lock after it was replaced, just kept bouncing. It turned out that I'd managed to lock it before I installed it so was locked when the other door was open. I had to remove it and unlock it manually by adjusting the lock mech on the end of the door pin rod. Once that was done it was all ok.
