Scout Rear Disc Upgrade - Back Plate Spec

Featured Replies

All,

Hopefully there's a brake guru out there who can help me with an issue I'm having upgrading the brakes on my Octavia Scout.

I acquired 312mm front and 286mm rear caliper carriers with the intention of fitting them to the Scout. Fronts bolted straight on and I'm really pleased with the results, but with the rears, I'm really struggling to find a back plate/dust shield that will fit.

The standard 286mm back plates from the VRS don't fit because of the rear driveshafts with the Scout. So I tried the back plates from a Mk5 Golf that had 4WD and 286mm rears (R32, I think?) - but these use a different hub (three screw fitting for back plates rather than four on the Scout)

I've taken a few photos, including part numbers and am hoping somebody can point me in the right direction (Audi maybe?)

This is the rear hub from the Scout

This is the existing back plate showing fittings and then the part number

Finally this is the part number for the Golf hub that doesn't fit.

I know the rears aren't going to make a big difference, but discs and pads need replacing anyway and as I've got the caliper carriers anyway...

Any suggestions gratefully received!

John.

Have you tried contacting DaveB1970? He does lots of work with VAG brakes, considered a bit of a guru.

I think he is a member here but he is more likely to be on VAGCom or MkVGolfGTI.

I think he's a pilot on contract, so away for chunks of time.

Thanks nickguzzi  - I'll give them a try!

Can't you fit the smaller backplate to the larger brakes?  It might require some slight metal trimming but it will do the job (more or less)

How did this end, anyone know?  :wonder:

I know this is an old thread, but I am currently in the same situation myself.

So before I start modding the current one, it would be nice to know if there is an easier alternative.

After some searching on the interweb, I have found out that the required parts seem to be;

5N0615611E - Left Side

5N0615612E - Right side

Seem to match with the pictures the thread starter provided with 4 bolt holes.

Hope this can be of help to someone.  :)
