Rapid Sport...does it have black lower door trim as in the brochure?

Featured Replies

Hi, having ordered a Rapid Sport in white I'm now disappointed to hear from my dealer that it won't have the lower door trim/decal or front lower grill trim as illustrated in the brochure which is 05/14.

Can anyone say if it does have these features?  otherwise if not  I feel there is misrepresentation of the car by Skoda!

Cheers.

I believe your dealer is right. I was back in the office yesterday and had a quick look over our Sport and don't recall any stickers down the side.

Not necessarily misrepresentation though as I'd be inclined to think that somewhere in the brochure it will state either non UK spec, or something along the lines of "pictures for illustrative purposes only, extra costs may be incurred for additional items shown blah blah blah"

I'm pretty sure a set of side decals from any sign writers wouldn't be too dear though - main thing, enjoy the car.

I know exactly what you mean, the Skoda I ordered (Citigo) was supposed to have a shelf fitted below the dash and what they call a bag hook somewhere inside the car amongst other little items, these never appeared but they were high lighted in the brochure.

The get out is on the very back cover of the brochure, particularly......"the information in this brochure is not binding and is subject to alteration"  and goes on to say please confirm exact spec bla de bla with your dealer.

So they've got it covered, I'd still be miffed like you though.

No black strip mate.....

I still dont get why something so simple couldn't be fitted at the factory on what is called a sport and as shown in the brochure!

Why does it always seem to be bits & bobs missing from the brochure spec, hardly ever the other way around?

Thanks for the info. Are you able to check ifthe chrome strip on the lower front mesh is fitted? Skoda customer services have assured me it is and they also said the car would and should have the side decals!!

Anybody know if you get stuff shipped from that site? Got some really nice stuff for the rapid and the prices work out superb!

I'd just get the product code and order it through your dealer mate.

Its a Skoda part at the end of the day...

indeed, for the black lower trim ask them how much for

You'll need the appropriate letter on the end for the correct colour, as the trim is available in multiple colours. The parts are listed in the accessories catalogue.

But it's Skoda UK you'll be asking. I sent Preston Motors a message on here last year asking about the centre arm rest, found the part number, and Skoda UK don't officially sell it as an accessory so would need to be ordered as a part which would come in at an eye watering £350. Needless to say I didn't buy an arm rest.

Indeedy but Skoda UK Prices!!!!!

Why does it always seem to be bits & bobs missing from the brochure spec, hardly ever the other way around?

Because we pay the penalty for living in Great Britain.   Not only are we taxed to the hilt for motoring, but the manufacturers charge do things to us that they wouldn't dare try to get away with anywhere else!   I have been loyal to the Volswagen Audi Group for a number of years, and am presently on my fifth VW Polo - just about to take delivery of my first Skoda Rapid, hopefully later this week!

However, I was really annoyed in America to discover that a VW Passat with much higher spec would actually cost less than my VW Polo at home!

Additionally, VW now fit "second-line" tyres like Hankook (which are hard wearing but don't afford much grip in wet or wintry conditions) instead of the traditional premium brands Good Year, Michelin, Uniroyal or Pirelli.   Strangely enough, this only affects the UK market and the cost-saving measure wasn't passed on to the car buyer!  I am not at all surprised to see bits left off cars for the UK market - it happens all the time and it is high time the Office of Fair Trading took the European Manufacturers to task.

Re-reading my post above, it does seem a bit harsh but the facility to "Edit" seems to have disappeared?
