Pollen filter info

Hi,

Just popping over from the Mk1 Fabia forum for a bit of assistance with pollen filter issues. Apparently, in July 2010 things changed for the Mk2, from having the same arrangement as the Mk1, to frameless filters with different part numbers.

This thread is some discussion on what may be backwards-compatible with the Mk1.  A stumbling block seems to be lack of knowledge on my part about what the cover under the filter is like after the change to frameless filters.  This page suggests that the cover changed part number on the same day as the filters went frameless.  Anyone got a picture or two of, or willing to take some please, for a cover with part number 6R2819422?

Ta.

Photos 2 & 3.  Let me know if you need more.

Thanks for making me find out where the heck it was.  I suffer badly from hayfever and my filter is grim. I shall be getting a replacement as soon as possible.

PhilTheGeek, you are a star!

Thanks very much for these pics, very glad I can potentially help with your hayfever.  I've been suffering myself in the last week or two, but I'm not sure what to do about it on my pushbike (other than keep stuff out of my eyes with shades/glasses).

The difference looks minimal according to a couple of pics I just took. I'll host and post them in a minute.

Your 6R2 version has an extra plastic lump inside the pink circle, that this one doesn't have:

Wonder what it does?  There's not a cavity or tab in the filter that it goes into, to provide a simple 'polarisation' i.e. it stops you putting it in the wrong way round?

Edit: It's gotta be something like this.  When the cover and filters changed from 6Q prefixed numbers to 6R, all of a sudden the cover changed from a universal part, to two different ones for LHD and RHD, consistent with that extra lump needing to be on different sides... :nerd:
