So getting a few quotes for a MK1 vRS at home and they are quoting me

£633+ with no mods declared

£750+ with BHP +10-25% & lowered <5cm. SK5 (Group E)

Get a quote for the same at my dads in Wales/Anglesey LL64 (Group A)

£233 with no mods

£400 with mods declared.

Never had any issues at all on my road, we have bollard access so no-one is getting the car out.

Next door neighbour works as an automotive sprayer so constantly has high value cars again never had any issues

Some of the cars next door include;

TT quatro 3.2l V6

BMW M5

Audi RS6

Porsche Cayenne

etc.

so not low value cars. never once in over 10 years has anything ever happened.

That is the list I have found and it seems to be accurate, but they are painting all areas with the same brush.  My street and all neighbouring streets are all very quiet, never any boy racers tearing around at god awful times in the morning, not had any car break ins. my mum left her car unlocked for a week accidentally when we went on holiday and nothing was done.

Just looked at mine and in Group A

That doesn't really matter that much. Statistically, owners in your postcode will have a certain risk. It isn't just about where it is parked overnight, but the roads you are likely to drive on and where you are likely to work.

There are also a lot of not-so-obvious factors at work. It might be a very safe and secure neighbourhood with no crime etc, but if more than a few people in the area have had claims in the last few years it might get a higher risk as well.

And statistically eventually safe areas will experience crime as generally locals will become complacent (leaving doors open, valuables/sat nav on show/in the car etc).

The criminals will know which are low crime areas and eventually come round.

It's one advantage of being rural -  "A" here

when I moved to wales from Manchester my insurance dropped £400  its crazy

How accurate is that? I looked up a postcode of an area in Kings Lynn that my sister used to live in that was an absolute **** hole, and the rating was like an A?!

If they really do use the whole first part of the post code then that is stupid. I've looked at a few around Leeds and you have areas that are really nice lumped in with places that are as rough as a dog's arse.

see the reply above. Unfortunately, you can't fence the scumbags in the areas that are 'rough as a dog's arse. 'Nice' areas may be targeted by the scumbags nextdoor.

That list is interesting.

I'm in a "B" area.

I'm in zone F, which maybe explains why I never see any motorcycles parked around here. I have a blackbox insurance policy and while talking to them back in Jan, they said I must be an exceptionally good driver to have such an extraordinarily low insurance renewal quote in my area!  :D

Me too, I still only pay about £250 for the Audi (Aviva) , £200 for trade insurance for the van(Gladiator) and £130 for

the bike(Swinton). All full comp etc Mrs G pays about £300 for her Fiat, but she doesn't have

as much no claims or years with full licence I have. Getting married seemed to make a difference to mine weirdly...

I do LOL at these 3 and 4 grand quotes you hear of.

That's what you young buggers get for being all energetic and virile.

But wrinkly and cynical has its upsides as well!!! :moon:

  • 2 months later...

Mine falls into group d the worst in my city. But I was told my zstreet is a dead end hill so in the winter it gets icy and more at risk

Funny this, when i got my first car and tried insuring it, when i insured it at where i lived it was about £80 over the year pricier than it was round the corner... lol!

And not all A's are the same. Moving from LE16, an A, to PE14, also an A, dropped my insurance - without me asking - about £20, and that was only for a few months.

Fancy and expensive cars cost more to repair.
