I am considering buying an Octavia 1.9 Tdi elegance soon, hopefully around a 2007 model.

What year did they start fitting DPF's?

What year did they come with 6 speed gearboxes?

I believe the standard 2 wheel drive 1.9 pd tdi (105 bhp) engine on the octavia mk2 was never fitted with a dpf and in manual gearbox form was only available as a 5 speed.

Yes they do, but there is a single mass flywheel conversion available for the 1.9. The merits of the conversion have been debated a lot in the Octavia II sub-forum, a search of that forum should bring up the relevant threads.
