AT GEAR DISPLAY ON SCREEN OFF

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Yesterday suddenly my Superb stoped running and the pick up had given up completely,

i checked the display and all the gears went missing( P,R,N,D,2,3,4)

I also checked there was some water below my seat,

Is my gear module damaged? and if yes can it be repaired?

First thing is to stop the leak...

It's usually the windscreen at the bottom I think.

Then get the car dried out and I mean completely dry. Hire a wet vacuum cleaner and get as much out as possible.

Then leave the car to dry out. Windows open a tiny bit and a fan heater in there would be best.

If you're lucky the control modules and wiring will dry themselves out and work... If it's been like that for while rust/corrosion may have set in and you're looking at new wiring and control modules.

Hi Nitish,

There is a "Water Ingress" thread pinned as the first  item on this Superb 1 page.  It's pinned there because it's an extremely common problem with these Skoda Superb / VW Passat cars.

All three of your questions to date have suggested that water ingress is the likely cause of your problems.  Did you manage to resolve the previous problems?

Looking at that water ingress thread will show you how to fix the pollen filter housing, ecu housing and door window carrier plates which are the main causes of leaks.

There are connectors at the base of left and right A pillars to be unplugged and checked for corrosion, the wiring to the CCU under the passenger seat needs to be unbundled and the joints where cables are connected need to be inspected and probably cleaned up and remade using solder.  Also the CCU box under the left hand seat might have corroded connectors or water inside.

Sorry, I don't know where the autobox controller is, but knowing VW I suspect it's somewhere that gets wet.

Drying out under the carpet will take a long time in Mumbai with the weather you are having at the moment, I don't envy you trying to dry your car out in 30 centigrade and thunderstorms.

Best of luck.....fix the water leaks first, dry out the foam under the carpets, then look into all the electrics.

I've just done a bit of googling and apparently the Auto Box controller is positioned under the front right hand carpet, same idea as the ccu under theleft hand front carpet.

This you tube clip gives and ide..sorry about the accent!
