Crappy fastners

Featured Replies

Octy undergoing rear suspension work...

Never have I encountered such poor quality nuts and bolts.

The heads of bolts round off as do the inner splines on ball joints, the bolts seize in place and shear and any bolts that do come undone are partly brown rust and black corrosion that crumbles in your fingers leaving a bolt with little or no threads and about half its original diameter.

I can see how Skoda cost cut... that and thin paint.

I suppose they are built to a price with a specific lifetime in mind.

My old pug had far superior quality but was mid nineties vintage, I suppose water based eco paints and cheap metal wasn't Peugeot's priority then, having decent galvanised bodywork not panels so thin they bend when you wash the car.

Been a long crappy day and not too impressed with Skoda... can you guess.

Couldn't agree more.

Everytime i do any work on my car i replace the crap torx headed bolts with some A2 stainless cap screws or whatever is required. OK i'm sure i'm adding weight to the car but it's not going to be much!!!

These days it's not just Skoda. What ever make of car I'm working on I always seem to have to renew nut & bolts.
