Having received my 1.4 TSI DSG Estate yesterday, I think I made the right choice ;)  Didn't even test drive one before putting in the order..

Good:

Pretty refined.  Ride seems a good compromise but I've just come from a Fabia vRS Estate - and I did add the Sports Suspension

Easy to drive - good performance although I can feel the lack of initial pull from low revs I've been used to coming from 2 twinchargers!

Seems pretty economical off the mark - got about 45mpg on the way to work this morning

Maxidot is a joy to use.

Like the way the DSG lever needs just flicking into S and back again, not an actual movement like my previous 2 DSG7s

Bad:

Still not found an airflow setting I like for the heating/AC - Auto seems to chill the tops of my legs.

Not sure:

Like the way the trip meter "clicks" the numbers up like an old fashioned odometer - although I keep finding myself being distracted by it.

Mode light bright orange as I've gone with individual mode (Sports steering)

Stop Start - in normal driving, wasn't an issue.  Pulled up at home, wife got out, I took off my seatbelt to assist in adjusting her seat and cheeky car wanted me to restart it manually to pull up properly onto the drive!  I can see that getting annoying so the OFF button might be getting used..

VBF does reduce the load area but I need to play around with it a bit.

It's only been 120 miles so far - plenty of time to settle down yet!

I don't get why this surprises people...!  The whole point is that it creates a flat load space, which of course will reduce the load area.  But the advantage is that you can use it to divide up the boot area, and also take it out if you need to maximise the space.

Nice review though...  :D

Doesn't surprise me about the VBF - but a box of work gear that came out of the Fabia needed a little bit of rearranging to fit in the the Octy.  I'm sure I'll get used to it though - it's a change in environment, that's all.  Only car I'd looked at was a hatch in the showroom and it's not that apparent because the shelf lifts out of the way..
