centre consul removal

Featured Replies

Hi guys does anyone know how to remove the centre consul to access the handbrake lever? lever almost vertical not much holding power left. Thanks in advance.

I gave up trying to get mine out after breaking the ashtray mechanism in front of the jumbo box.

Couldn't work out for the life of me how to do it.  When I got the rear ashtray out it looked like it was bolted to a metal frame with the screws on the underside and no access to them  :wonder:

I dislike being beaten by things like this immensely.

Best o'luck!

It might not be, it does look like a little bit different part to what we have in our Superbs, but I'd guess the fixings would likely be in the same places (ish)...

I've never had it out so can't vouch for the procedure.

Thanks

The more I look at it now the more I think you are right...  And the geniuses designing the centre console faffed it up...

So I had a look in the factory manual.

In the front there are also two hidden screws it seems...

Two steps before removing them it says "remove instrument panel"... oy oy what's all this then?! Surely not...

They mean the frame that the radio / air conditioning controls / etc is sat in.

The procedure is apparently:

Unclip trim from instrument panel

Remove radio

Remove pull out tray under radio if fitted

Remove ashtray

Unclip transmission cover

Remove 7x screws holding the instrument panel into the dash

I would imagine that would then give access to those two screws.  Over complicated or what.
