90k mile service

Featured Replies

Last June I got an 80k mile service done at a Skoda dealer, which consisted of renewing the engine oil, spark plugs, air filter and brake fluid. It's now due its 90k mile service (it's only covered 86k, but I doubt thats relevant)

Can anyone enlighten me as to what is needed for it's 90k service as I've decided to just do it myself as the car is getting on a bit now.

TIA.

Id change the engine oil & filter & the pollen filter & the fuel filter if it hasnt had one recently,at 86k id also consider changing the gearbox oil if its never been changed.

Thanks for that. How often should fuel filter be replaced?

Im not sure to be honest,i changed mine at 54,000miles & 6 years old & the petrol coming out of it was brown so it needed changing.

Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is located? Heavy rain has stopped me going outside and a search is proving fruitless. Also, when the service warning/indicator is reset using the method of switching the ignition on while pressing in the button for the odo, I take it'll come back on in another 10,000 miles or a years time?

Fuel filter is under the car next to the fuel tank on the drivers side, its held on by a torx screw,on mine the head was so corroded i had to drill it off & replace the bolt, there are a total of 3 pipes connected to the filter held on by quick release clips. I just reset the service indicator as per the owners manual & it does come on again in just under 10000miles.

Are you talking petrol or diesel, my fuel filter is to the left of the engine bay inside a metal cylinder with 3 or 4 pipes coming out of the top, very easy to change.

Mikey was talking about the petrol fuel filter - in theory it doesn't ever need changing according to Skoda.  I have changed mine, but it isn't easy to remove the fuel lines unless you have the correct fuel filter/connector pliers.

The original post mentioned spark plugs hence my reply about a petrol fuel filter,i had no issues changing my filter,i just used a electrical screwdriver to release the clips on the pipes.

Appreciated. Thanks for the reply.

Well that was fun changing the fuel filter. The screw that holds the plastic clamp in place had crumbled away to nothing, but there was still enough that I had to drill it to release the clamp. Gearbox oil change was easier than expected and a bit messy when I screwed up changing containers when collecting the old oil so I could measure how much was in.

Mikey vrs, did you fill to spill or add the same amount that came out?

I had to do the same with my fuel filter retaining screw,i measured what came out of the box & i filled it until it started to run out of the level plug hole & it was roughly the same amount of oil.

Ok, thanks. I got 2.3 litres out and maybe around 100ml spilled onto my drive, so put in 2.4 litres. Gear change is much better now from 1st - 2nd.

Sounds about right, mine was the same amount.
