Park asst camera

Featured Replies

This might be a silly question but when cleaning the car noticed the cameras located in the hatch above number plate but when reverse is selected no camera options are offered on the screen, does this or can it be activated, any ideas, thanks

Cameras, plural?

The parking camera is a single camera mounted immediately to the right of the tailgate release.

It shouldn't need activating as such - mine just worked straight out of the box. It comes on only with reverse selected and switches off as soon as neutral or a forward gear is selected although the parking sensor 'picture' remains. There are various options on the screen to determine what you see - I'll have a look tomorrow and report back.

Meanwhile here's a picture of the camera....

Sorry I meant the singular camera, the manual suggest that the option of the camera can be selected on the screen display when reverse is selected, but the only option that appears is to have volume on or off.?

The camera has only been offered as an option on the F/L and then only with Colombus. Mine worked out of the box and certainly does not appear to have any option to switch it off.

Also an option with the Amundsen+

Just thought a bit of a waste of time and cost to fit the camera that is not activated if it's only an optional extra, thanks for the info

Perhaps I'm not getting this, but if you have a FL L&K then it has a Columbus as standard.

The park assist camera is an optional extra and to the best of my knowledge it isn't there at all if you haven't got one - they don't fit it and not bother to connect it if you don't pay for the connection!

I had a look today at mine. As I said earlier, the camera is only on when reverse is engaged, otherwise you get the plan view parking sensor info. Again, the FL L&K has park assist as standard so you get the sensor pic showing the sidea of the car as well in this mode.

On the camera screen, you have the camera view, plus the sensor paln view on the left and options on the right.

You can:

1. Switch it off with the 'X'

2. Remove the sensor view and options with the '<' and '>'

3. Switch off the beeper noise

4. The other options on the right are colour/contrast/brightness settings

5. Bottom right switches off the camera and returns the view to the sensor plan view screen

6. On the sensor view screen you can switch the bleeper on/off

7. The bottom right button switches the camera back on

The camera works very well in levels of light and dark.

Perhaps "Sad" could confirm the exact age of his vehicle, because I'm totally confused at the moment?

It's also a excellent way of checking that the rear bumper protector is still stuck in place.

Thanks for that all, right it's a 2014 l&k reg march 2014 ,I got it as an ex demo with 107 miles on it a couple of weeks ago,so yes it has the Columbus and as aero pics show the same as the manual I assumed that it did not have the option of the camera ,so as I said I was a bit surprised to see a camera fitted where it's meant to be ref Tibets pics so if it's not fitted as an extra why bother fitting the camera only.

If it's fitted and not working, take it back to the dealer and get it repaired.

They don't just fit camera's and not connect them. so therefore it looks like you have a problem with yours. As it is under warranty take it back and get the dealer to sort it out.

Yes that's what I was beginning to think

Make sure you report back with the results!

Have you checked the option codes? They will show exactly what you have.

Codes can be found in the handbook and inside the rear of the car.
