Wheel spacers

Featured Replies

Can you fit spacers to a standard VRS estate with 16's (205/55/16)

I'm not going to buy new wheels or change any of the suspension (apart from RARB). I want to keep the car stealth and wide if possible.

Is this a strange idea lol?

Wheel spacers are not great in my experience. They sometimes create centering difficulties at best, and horrendous wheel vibration at worst.

Plus, and probably of most concern - they place a huge additional stress on the wheel stub axes and bearings which they were never designed to take. This could cause a premature failure, or worse a loss of control if something breaks or fails whilst you are driving.

I would have a think before going down this route - although obviously this is just my opinion ;)

Nice one. Good info there. How else could I get stockier look?

Ha cheers. As I said - it's just my opinion...I am sure many others will come on and say they've never had a problem running spacers. But in engineering terms, I've explained the possible pitfalls.

The only way to get a wider track, safely, without stressing the running gear components, is to buy new custom-made wheels, with a different offset.

This helps - but even with this option, there is still additional stress on the suspension.

Can I respectfully ask - why are you set on trying to obtain such an idea, on an estate too? Any particular reason?

I just want to retain the standard look but interested if this setup can have a wider stance. Standard spiders wheels to fill the arches more without going to the expense of wheels and new tyres. I would rather spend any small budget on making it go a little faster.

As long as you stick with good quality hubcentric spacers you shouldn't have any problems.

Unless they are H&R ha ha as they are all on holiday lol

Some hubcentric spacers will be fine

Some 15mm front and 20 rears will look good

Great stuff. How do I class the good from the bad? Price £40+ for a pair at the lower end of quality?

Do you stock these things?

Cheers again.

We do yes, what sizes were you looking for?

What would you recommend for stock wheels? 15 --> 20?

Is the car lowered and what look are you going for? Subtle or all out width?

totally stock, not lowered. Might be a stupid thing to do on stock. What you reckon?

Just looking for wheels to fill out a bit.

No not at all, I'd say maybe 10mm front and 15mm rear, could even go further if you wanted but a lot is down to personal choice and how you want them to sit yourself.
