Poorly VRS

"Diagnostics" by the recovery garage said I needed a new coil pack...  .

So much for diagnostics... monkey with VCDS...

George is the specialist here in knowing what Skoda does with warranty replacements, or what the dealers should be doing etc.

Further to my ordeal they have had a look and the is oil on the top of the piston and they suspect its a new engine. Which good news i suppose if its fitted correctly.

However the majorty of the other bits off my old engine gets bolted on. Including the plugs and coil packs, surely these should be replaced. One of the plugs is covered in oil, not really impressed with that but was told skoda wont pay if it isnt broken.

In addition i was surprised they didnt know about the issue with the clutches in the gearbox. All the issues are detailed on the skoda assist report, unless they have got to this yet.

Insist on New Plugs, New Coils

& after checked to see if required a New Cat.   Get that all cleared with Skoda UK that are paying for the work.

Is this the Dealer telling you that you are having the Old Plugs fitted.

It is a £4500 plus Warranty Job,  then the DSG on top of that,  they are having a giraffe.

(if you had to you could pay to have 4 new plugs put in, but you dont need to.)

As it is, Skoda will be due you money if you have been messed about and incurring costs due to their Manufacturing Faults.

Demand an Extended Warranty longer than any current Manufacturers Warranty still to run.

Once the dealers confirm what the actual repair is going to be do i then contact skoda uk and ask for the plugs coil pack and extended warrenty. Or do i need to contact them now?

Deal with Skoda UK.

The Special Technical Team, & get things in writing from them.

What engine is coming, & what you can expect to have done.

The Dealership are only Diagnosing the problem, Inspecting the car and advising Skoda on the work required.

Then getting approval to do it.

Since the dealership you deal with appear to be next to useless, then you might need a second opinion, but surely there will be no argument that a New Engine is required.

Possibly a replacement gearbox.

? Does the Dealership have a resident Master Technician capable of doing the Job Start to Finish,?

because all dealerships do no, as some other members found out once the job was started, and then drags on.

Cheers whats the correct email address or do i have to fill the form out on skoda website? Yeah they do have a master tech and they reckon i should have the car back next week. Impressive turn around for a new engine.

A further update my does need a new engine and is currently awaiting authorisation from skoda. But the dsg side hasnt beem looked at yet. I assume it will be easier with engine out.

Last week i sent an email to Skoda uk detailing my concerns about not changing the plugs and coil packs, plus the fact that the dsg is not right hence slipping and the fault code clutch limits out of tol and also enquiring about 12 months warranty post new engine.

I had no response so i had to call them and skoda uk said they needed to speak to my dealership which they then rung me back letting me know were my car is upto. Bearing in mind i did this myself a mere 20mins before ringing skoda uk. The chasing up bit is easy i can do that myself.

However skoda uk brushed of the spark plug and dsg side of things saying hes not techincal, gave no indication this would be past onto the tech team and also said the warrenty will run out when my cars warrenty runs out. But they may sort a deal out if the engine goes again when outside of warrenty?????

I am not happy with this how do i escalate my concerns through skoda uk. Please help.

'vrskeith',  might tell you about a comedy of errors with Skoda UK HQ Customer Services.

They are often 1 or 2 steps behind what is going on, and replying to any Questions, Staff on Breaks etc, one covering for another

and the Arse & Elbow fully in action.

You know what the Dealer is doing, and the dealer tells you what Skoda Says, and then Skoda eventually tells you the wrong thing.

MY SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT IF THE ENGINE FAILS BOTH TEST,THAT THEY ARE AUTHORISED BY SKODA UK TO PLACE THE ORDER DIRECTLY ON THE UK STOCK LOCATION.

No need for Skoda UK to SANCTION !

Tell me about it.......it seems the email i sent hasnt reach its intended. I.e someone who can actually do something about it. How do i progress this now? Is it as simple as sending Alasdair Stewart an email......if that is at all possible.

Has the Dealership or Skoda UK supplied you with a Courtesy or Hire car.?

You just get that,

and keep it until Skoda Provide your car back properly repaired.

If the Dealer is not Supplying it, get onto Skoda Customer Services tomorrow and see what arrangements they are taking to keep you mobile..

You should not have Cost or Expenses to suffer because Skoda Sold cars with Engines that are faulty from VW building them.

They know what the issues are.

It is a real shame someone does not take them to court, but as it is, they do what they need to before that happens.

You just need to Demand your Consumer Rights sadly, and they will meet them.

It is just you need to get Skoda Customer Services to understand you are Serious.

A Solicitors Letter, and tell them you will have an Engineers Report done on the Engine & Gearbox & Invoice them for the costs..

Or have Trading Standards assist you on that.

Well ive been given a hire car from skoda assist so im mobile at least. How do you through the chain of command at skoda, starting a customer services.

You dont anymore.

'austenw90'  got to Alasdair Stewart with a communication,

and now you have the likes of Tom Chadwick, or he has some other Minion without a clue on the case.

You just let them bumble along now acting like the incompetents they are.

& you get your car back,

Maybe sue them down the line.

But Trading Standards is the simple way to go if they do not get on and Repair the car and make good your expenses.
