Mk1 FABIA VRS 54 plate 86k FSH

Featured Replies

Hello, since having a baby in February I cant really justify keeping my Fabia. Sad times.

Its a Sept 2004 VRS in black magic. I bought it 22/12/07 from the original owner off this site. He cared for it well and so have i over the 6.5 years ive owned it. I bought it standard other than the PD160 intake. I added Audi TT comp alloys, a Whiteline rear anti-roll bar, Eibach lowering springs and had it REVO mapped to 170bhp (Dec 2010) which is plenty and not too much for the car. Its got Kuhmo Ecsta LE Sport tyres on the rear and Falken FK452 on the front, all with plenty of tread, MOT until May 2015 and tax until March 2015.

I clay-bar it regularly and its got a FSH, mostly at a well respected local VAG specialist garage. The bodywork is very good, there are a few stone chips on the bonnet but that cant be helped and small amounts of bubbling on the rims of the alloys. There are a couple of pulls on the seats but ive cleaned them and they look good.

Im looking for £3,800 ovno. I think thats a fair price as theres an awful lot of tat out there and my car is a cracking well looked after example.

Yep, as the title chaps, Approx 86,500 although im using it a little. Its in great condition, im the second owner which is a good sign when it comes to a nearly 10 year old car. I always let it warm up and dont drive it hard, pootleing around at 28mph is a regular thing! Its just not getting the use as since the baby, we go everywhere in a 2002 Toyota Avensis estate. I was going to keep it off road just because I know its been well looked after/maintained but theres no point having money tied up in a car chocked up on the driveway.

Just to clarify my location, I (and the car) live in Exeter but im originally from Stoke, have family and friends there and my in-laws live in Birmingham so a trip to either is fine. I'd need you to be fairly interested though as I dont want to waste the fuel or put unnecessary miles on the car. Thanks for looking, get in touch!

Hello to you all, This car was sold but is now for sale again. Dont be concerned theres nothing weird going on and I'll explain why...

I had enquiries about the cambelt so I contacted the garage who did it (C&R unit 1, Thorverton Mill, Exeter, Devon. EX5 5LX) and spoke to Chris who did the work at 58,112 miles on 02/11/09.  We got talking and he said he was looking for a smaller runaround rather than putting the mileage on his fancy RS Escort, he knew the history of the car and that I'd looked after it so we agreed a price and it was sold in July 2014 with the deal that he'd help me get my Westfield kitcar back on the road. A couple of months ago I noticed it was for sale on the garage forecourt. He loved the car but had bought a house in the meantime, so it was up for sale. He says he'll do the cambelt and water pump (and I therefore assume a service) for the £3500 asking price. Current mileage is 87226.

Im happy to answer and questions but you could just contact him direct, Chris on 07719772167.

Few more details, here are the issues ive experienced...

I had the lower boost pipe pop off, its 'lugs' get worn and i think its age and being disconnected during the cambelt change didnt help. So this was replaced (£97!) 01/04/11 and I havent had any issues since. At the same time I had the front wishbone rear bushes replaced with the seat cupra ones.

The only other issues I know of is the rear washer doesnt work but I dont miss it so ive left it. There has been slight play in the front anti-roll bar for the last two years, I dont notice it, its not an MOT failure, although these arent expensive and I was going to get it replaced when I had to. It gets the standard condensation during the winter but not wet rear footwells which is a renowned fault, I dont run the air con and I think if I did that would help.

It is the original clutch, the 170bhp remap is sensible so it doesnt slip but then again I dont thrash it/race at the lights/generally drive it like a nob!

So its now £300 cheaper and it will have a new cambelt and water pump. It'll be a great buy for someone.
