Monte Carlo Squeaky suspension/bushes/engine mounts

Featured Replies

I drove my Monte today for the first time in a week. I hit a bump/pothole/speedhump, which has now caused a squeak from the near side of the car when ever I go over the slightest bump or uneven road.

At first I thought it may have been suspension bushes, however, it appears that the engine mount on the Near side of the car is looser than the Off side.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? I am ringing up Skoda tomorrow to get it looked at.

Just so you know -

Its a 63 Plate Tsi monte, which has covered 8300 miles.

Many thanks

When you had Lowering Springs on,  did you do the fitting of them and then the removing of them yourself?

I fitted them myself with a mate (who works for ferrari) and it was a good 4 months ago now

I have rang skoda today, and the think it is the front suspension bushes... its booked in today at 1.30 and they think some WD40 on the dried out bushes will sort it. I think I may be making several trips to the dealers... haha

I really wouldn't put WD40 near any rubber parts it can cause them to swell and break. As a general rule the only lube that goes on rubber and plastic things in silicone based.

When it is Rubber needing lubed, even rubber next to metal, then it is 'Red' Rubber Grease i use,  this is Vegetable Oil based.

Do not use Petroleum Based Greases.

As for WD40,  that is possibly like the person that suggested you use it,

a jack of all trades, master of none, not a great thing to use, and probably only last in its position for a short time.

This stuff is a different matter, from the Blue Cans

Car is booked in this friday to have it fully checked over. The tech is positive that it is a track rod ball joint that needs regreasing or replacing which is causing the creaking on my steering rack. The creaking from the bushes appears to have gone.. For the time

I fitted them myself with a mate (who works for ferrari) and it was a good 4 months ago now

Well. If hes used to working on Ferraris, maybe the problem is that hes not used to such high tech components as the Fabia.

Its a well known fact. Ferraris are basic compared.

Okay. So seriously..

There was a guy on here not so long ago that was having to spray a silicone based lubricant on rear suspension components. So you might not be in your own.

I'll see if i can find the thread..

Update -

The car was sent to skoda, who regreased the ball joints on the track rods. Creak gone, excellent.

3 days later... It was back but no where near as bad. Now however (three weeks later) the creak from the rack AND creaking from the suspension has appeared as bad as it was before it went into skoda .

Unfortunately I'm on holiday for two weeks, but when I come back the car is due a service, so will get the creaking and several paint issues hopefully sorted under warranty.
