Clunking

Hi all,

Recently replaced both front shocks, now with the car flat on the ground, if I grab the o/s shock and pull, it will move 1 to 2 mm, with a clunk. It won't do it jacked up or with the wheel turned, only dead ahead. Any ideas? I'm hoping its just the top nut that is not tight enough. I replaced the top mount aswell.
