BT Broadband / Infinity Outage 28/06/2014

Featured Replies

My internets are not working :( I can't sign into PSN on my PS3, I can't access 50% of web sites like Ebay and BT's own site appears to be flooded and can't get past home page. I called their number for service status and a pre recorded message saying a major issue being worked on with no specific location.

So since Brisky is still working, anyone else got this issue??

BT infinity here, no probs.

Mines fine. Seems like you have a network issue in NI somewhere.

So Brisky is still working,

So what's the problem . :giggle:

It's back :D

According to BT it was a major problem UK wide, no connection or intermittent issues for people. For me it was every site I wanted to visit and the volume of traffic hitting BT's site more or less sent it down too. Strangely, I do not know if it's a fibre thing but when I benchmark my connection or check IP, I am found to be somewhere like Carlisle. If I select a server on speedtest.net 5 miles away or any in NI the latency is higher and speed slower than if I use closest to where it says I am. I normally sit around 73-76mb/s down and 17-19mb/s up but the last month it's been crap, 60 ish down 13 ish up and ping like 58-78 ms generally.... Not fantastic for playing stuff online on PS3 at all.

Just came back to post the same thing, but you are hours ahead of me Lee

I take comfort in the fact that I was not the only one, as long as it's a big problem it gets sorted quicker. If it was just me they would patronise me on the phone for a month before lifting a finger, cancel my direct debit and they would soon be on top of me like a ton of bricks though!

Mine was "down" this morning, was a two second job to fix as it was only the DNS servers that were knackered here.

I were going to suggest this, I bet the issue today were DNS. I bet if users used Googles DNS they would have not experienced a problem.

Yeah was only the tv that stopped working here everything else uses opendns or google.

Bt infinity here and my connection was on its arse the other day too - latency shot up to anywhere between 500ms to 10'000ms ... A quick reset improved it nearly back to normal but it did fluctuate for the rest of the evening.
