Value impact of extra owners?

Featured Replies

Whilst my Yeti is now taxed, the ongoing nightmare that has been the dealer/Skoda sorting out the V5 now means that my car now has one more owner in the book than expected.

It's gone from the original owner to me and then to me again. The latest V5 I've got shows 2 previous owners with me as both the current and most recent previous owner. There's also another request for a replacement V5 somewhere in the system so I'd not be surprised if I end up with a V5 showing 3 previous owners.

Does an increasing number of owners reduce the value of a car? A low number of previous owners is definitely something I look for when buying used, but I wonder if I'm unusual in that regard.

Get the dealer to have the d v l a sort it out. Or let the dealer compensate you the sort of money they devalue a car with the extra 2 owners. Hit them in the pocket for incompetence.

I think if someone posted on here saying they are looking at a nearly new Yeti with several owners, and two of them seem to be the same person the advice would usually be to walk away. It would be setting off warning bells for me.

You'd like to think that the DVLA should be able to correct the whole two-Gyps on the V5 thing, but I doubt it will be straightforward.

Two Gyps one V5. Now that's a web link you're not going to click on!

I'd say yes. It depends on the period of time but a large number of previous owners in a relatively short period of time would put me off a car i.e. 4 in 2yr.

Well, it's currently looking like 3 owners in 12 months/8k miles :-(
