Are they pretty capable?

I'll be towing a horsebox with 1 and on the odd occasion 2 horses in it.

What towbars are people using?

The octavia is a good towcar ( I tow a big caravan) but be very careful of the weight your towing.When running my old Forester I couldn't tow a horse box with two horses as it was rated at 2000kg max.

Now the octavia is nowhere near that so I would say its a no for sure with two horses.

Anyone know what the tow capacity is?

I know it's a twin axle horsebox but not managed to have a nose round it to find the weight of it.

According to my mk2 brochure (how sad is that......) the max towing unbraked weight for the mk2 tsi vrs is 650kg and the max towing braked is 1400kg and max nose weight is 75kg.

Isn't there a sticker on the passenger door sill with the towing weight etc? I may be wrong but I think I seen something there resembling weight limits the other day whilst cleaning.

It's not man enough so looks like I'm stuck with it and her indoors will have to get a 4x4 for towing.

Also make sure your license is suitable. If it was after 1st Jan 1997 then you will almost certainly need to take the towing test as a Discovery (or similar vehicle than can pull all this) + horsebox and two horses will almost certainly cross 3.5 tons.
