Any good comments regarding independent warranties ?

Featured Replies

I am considering purchasing a independent car warranty , my searches for reviews on this companies are mostly negative in the extreme , has anyone any positive comments and recommendations regarding extended warranty companies . I have DSG and this is my main concern after my Skoda warranty expires.

I have just had the complete rear drive unit on my Octavia II 4X4 replaced and paid for in full under the Skoda Approved Extended Warranty and Assistance I purchased from a Skoda dealer when the manufacturer's warranty expired. And the car was recovered from N Yorks to Cambridge by the RAC under that insurance. Unlike some after market warranties, I can still make further claims provided these do no exceed in total the price of the car (£20,000), not its current secondhand value. This is very relevant because I purchased the warranty in case my 1.8TSI engine suffers timing chain tensioner failure.

The retail price of the rear drive unit alone is £3164. I am over £3000 ahead of where I would have been with no warranty, and the whole process of recovery and claim was hassle free and quick. QED.

With only one reply I will assume only one guy, thanks, has a good word to say with regarding to independent warranties not very encouraging.

Why not just go with a 'Skoda Approved Extended Warranty'  provided by Car Care Plan, bought via Skoda,

A Warranty Company Owned by the VW Group.

or

go to 'Car Care Plan' ltd Direct & maybe have the Warranty Slight cheaper.

There are complimentary posts elsewhere on this forum about at least one other warranty company.
