Skoda Octavia 2008 High level brake light problem

Featured Replies

HI, Im posting on behalf of my dad who brought a 2008 Skoda Octavia Estate just over a week ago.

The high level rear brake light on top of the boot was not working so he brought a new unit, However the new unit isn't working either. He's since run a voltage test on the wire going to the light & found that there's no voltage going to it. He's checked the fuses & all of those are also OK.

Any ideas on where to look next?

Does the rear washer work correctly?

There is a joint for the pipe to the rear washer which leaks/comes apart which is cunningly held in the same bracket as the two electrical connectors. You get corrosion in the connectors from the leaking washer pipe which can cause all sorts of problems.

On my car the high level brake stayed on dimly all the time but the boot lights didn't work at all.

The connectors are behind the trim where the CD changer is (or should be) on the passenger side.
