boost leak maybey?

Featured Replies

Ok guys, I've gotta ask on here..

Symptoms...

Foot down, spikes at 20psi.. tails off to 16 ish and holds until it hits 5100rpm and boost then drops off to 10psi..

I can hear the car hissing from driver side (sounds like), so I think it's a boost leak.. I hope so because  I'm having my fmic pipes done soon which will get rid of the stupid join before the pancake pipe..

Advice welcomed

Cheers

Do you have the stock DV?

No mate. I have forge 007p..

Bought it off David. He had it refurbished only few thousand miles before I had it

boring, I know but have you checked for any loose pipes or splits? 90 degree pipe which meets pancake pipe behind off side front wheel is known to leak under load.

Check for movement at places where two pipes connect that could result in a leak.

Have this come up recently?

Can you read any fault codes?

You refer to that join where there is that stupid clip thing yeah??

That has some movement yes and the hiss sound  like its coming from my side of the car....

Pcv system deleted, evap system simplified and oil catch can fitted as per bowders tech guides...

Also n249 and n112 valves deleted but didn't have any resistors so they are  unplugged so eml is on. But I was told this wouldn't make the car run any different?? Can't see that being right as surely the ecu would still be looking for readings from these and adjust to suit if it didn't see any??

EGR valve leak (pipes connecting, faulty EGR valve)

I'm not an expert but the n112 valve only operates during startup so that shouldn't be a problem. The n249 delete could maybe have something to do with this. Maybe someone with more skill can answer this.

Woot isn't them diesel and gasoline the same? My bad - stupid :x

I would of thought a boost leak would happen sooner than 5000rpm tbh

I  get how it can suddenly drop off

Sorry to jump on op's topic. I'm also experiencing poor boost through out the rev range all clips on hoses are tight replaced most of the silicon vacumme hoses but I can hear air escaping near the drivers wheel and believe this pipe you mention may be the culprit, does any one have a part number Tia!
