Is it possible to enable via vcds the ability to view the battery voltage in maxidot?

I don't think so.

 

You can however read the system voltage with VCDS. 

Only on a Mk3.

We had it running to compare my volt meter, looks like the volt meter is poorly thank god

This function on the mk3 is naff, I've had mine show 0% charge after being parked for 8 hours, nothing left switched on and guess what.... It started straight away.

Not via VCDS but with extra module called Polar FIS+, yes.

It will show battery voltage and lot of extra parameters of a car.

And even gives you a secret menu option of enabling and adapting sime functions of a car for what you would need VCDS instead.
