tandem pump

Featured Replies

Hi my brake pedal today keeps going hard and read somewhere that it could be the vaccum/tandem pump. I also seem to have diesel in my oil which is meant to be also indication of the tandem pump. Has anyone else had this and know if it is the gasket or the whole pump that needs replacing? Octavia vrs tdi pd 170 .

Didnt think the skoda diesels had the tandum pump issues like the VW passats :-/

I think it has as looking on websites to order one .

the pumps have a double lip (Oil Seal) seal between the vac side and pressure side (must be really good to keep them apart at all  !!!!)    I assume this is where the leak is as the vac exhausts to the crankcase hence diesel in oil---there is a kit available in Italy but they're not keen to sell them   --easier to get an invite to one of senior Berlusconi's bunga bunga parties    the seal appears to be made in the far east --I think you need to buy a pallet load-- not easy

Mine went some time ago,had oil in the fuel,so £240 later problem solved.

Stripped the old one down, and was shocked at the wear and this was at 49,000 miles, any way can't change just the oil seal,so new unit is required.

Took me 30 mins to change not a hard job, just remember to prime before starting the engine,I didn't and it was a pig to start.

Best place is flea bay look for number1for skoda that's where I had mine from.
