Somewhat Annoying

Featured Replies

So, have just got in after having the car recovered from Epsom back to home in Brighton.

Was sitting at traffic lights, went to pull away and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. No outward signs or warnings (other than the light show). Luckily I was next to a garage so gently pulled in there and called Skoda Assistance before waiting for the recovery flatbed.

The MFD, when the ignition is turned on, says "Error: Brakes. Workshop!" so Skoda Assistantance will be out in the morning. The car seemed to go into a "limp home" mode i.e. the engine appeared to be running as normal but the power steering was heavier (but still powering) and the Hill Hold Control was inoperative.

Obviously am happy for Skoda to sort now (as long as I am kept mobile) but any ideas?

Thanks

So, the cause of the elctrical meltdown was a single wire under the handbrake that had been chaffed (by the handbrake movement) and eventually had severed. New section of wire spliced in, securely tucked out of the way and the car is back to normal.

Great news, hopefully peaceful motoring for you for a while.
