New FL - two weeks old - Creaking DSG Gearbox

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'll upload pictures of my new FL as soon as I can, sorry for being late!

(This started at about one week old. I didn't notice anything like this at the beginning)

I have a creaking or slight rattle which seems to unearth when you first put it in D. The moment when it initiates and starts to pull forward; there's a fairly noticeable creaking sound which can be heard inside and outside the car. It only seems to happen as the car pulls or, whether in D1 or in Reverse.

I have heard it happen, with the bolero off, on higher ratios also like D2,3,4. Definitely most noticed on D1 and R though

1) Have any of you experienced this?

2) What do you reckon I should do to fix it?

Just want to sound a bit more clued-up when I take it to the dealer.

Thanks in advance. :)

Liam

Does it happen as you put it into gear or only as you release the foot brake? Maybe Disk Pads on slightly rusty disks squealing?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. It happens as you put it in to gear with light throttle. I took it to the dealers and the technician noticed it when he kept edging the car backwards and forwards while switching it from Drive to Reverse. Very light and short creaking sound. Got it booked in for check on 04th August

It is obvious anyone buying a new car will look for faults. We want to make sure we spend our hard earned money on a 100% sound product.

It is also common for us to look out for sounds we imagine may be not right. This happened to me.When my Yeti was brand new I heard a "whirring " sort of sound which caused me much concern at the time.Three years on and no faults whatsoever, I imagine the car is still generating the same noise but I dont notice it anymore and I am not the least bit concerned.I love my yeti like on day one.

I have yet to hear of any maker whos cars are 100% sound and silent.
