2.0 Tdi ignition switch - where to buy other than main dealer?

Featured Replies

Thanks in advance for any info on part number & source, other than expensive main dealer route.

Process of elimination in sorting out door locking/unlocking randomly at lower speeds, so not keen on

the full Skoda price.

Cheers ! :sun:

dealer price is not that bad for the switch

Mine does this too.. How have you narrowed it down to ignition?

I'd have thought it would be the central locking button below the handbrake that's playing up rather than the ignition switch.

It could also be a software setting where the doors are (un)locked at a certain slow speed threshold for safety reasons.

By asking the question of mastertech/members in Freedom section of site.

It's not conclusive, but if cheap enough, good to eliminate seeing as can't find anyone cheapy to read fault codes.

£40 for fault code at garage, or less for the part

Maybe re central locking button malfunction.

Can't be a software setting as it behaved fine for long time, then randomly locks/unlocks several times in succession now

Mine was doing this & a new ignition switch cured the fault,i got mine off Eddie-NL,cant remember exact price now but it wasnt a lot.

OK as odd as the cause and effect sound have you tried inserting the straw of a can of wd-40 into the ignition slot and giving it a good scoosh?

That wouldnt work as the ignition switch part you replace is on the end of the key barrel, its a internal fault within the sealed switch.

If it cures it then let me know.
