Legality of engine transplant

I think as well as a "Like" button there should be an "Off Topic" button. If someones post gets 5 Off Topic votes, it automatically gives them an electric shock through their computer or mobile and @#*% $#@$&.

Sorry about that, i just got an electronic shock off my mobile.

That was then, this is now.

So we go with the Flow, and the internet forums will give both sides or many sides. Come time it catches up.

None of which count for very much when stopped at the roadside having your car checked over.

Ok, quote me where they're saying to change it.......

In the wrap link 4 posts above is the latest the d v l a put out. You can get that from the d v l a if you ask.

Majority of that links talks about tax & the V5C tbh, aside for colour in the list of things listed on it I don't think it's mentioned again.

As with most things, people please them selves.  the DVLA are only an Executive Agency that Recommend and tend not to commit,

Because the Government change Legislation & Regulations, but not Statute Law for the whole UK,

They often never Get England / Wales, Scotland & NI all the same, and it leaves the grey areas that the Police, Vosa & then the Courts can not fully Enforce.

But anyway, things change in October, more ANPR,  more DVLA trying to collect Revenue & Penalty Money.

All things will tie to Computers, Car VIN, Colour, Insurance, VED,  so it takes time, but starts soon.

If a car on SORN, or no MOT, TAX etc is Flagged as being on the Public Highway then the Registered Keeper can get a Penalty Charge through the Door,

MOT's need Pre Booked, and that will be Booked on the Computer, not in your MOT Mates Desk Diary.

So the DVLA easily know when an Illegal Vehicle is being used in Areas with fixed ANPR Cameras.

If a Picture needs examined to Confirm Car Reg, then Colour might or not come into it.

If a Vehicle arrives at the Registered Keeper Address, to Clamp or Remove the Vehicle, First they will look for Colour then the Registration Number,

then the VIN & Engine Numbers.

The DVLA deem things to be temporary if they can be removed.

I know an owner who was stopped in his wrapped Ford Mondeo ST (Ferrari Red) and told "if it's temporary, remove it". He said "No". They said "Aha, it's permanent then" and he was fined for not reporting the colour change.

If he had removed it, he wouldn't have been fined.

I don't think this used to happen. I suspect that now this issue (dipping/wrapping) is about to be addressed specifically, the DVLA feel free to use the tools they already have.

I think I'd have told him where to go, just because something's temporary doesn't mean I'm happy to take it off when someone asks me too!

If I were to wrap my car I'd do as George said, phone DVLA, ask them then ask for a letter to that effect.

If that was that it's not needed to be changed and some smart arse copper wanted to be clever I'd show him the letter and tell him where to go.

Did the Mondildo look any good in 'rarri red?

...Did the Mondildo look any good in 'rarri red?...

In a word, no. The best part is that he spent all that money to have it wrapped and now his fellow ST chavs think it's a fake ST, as they don't come in red :)

He got stopped at a VOSA roadside check in a place called Cowbit (the locals insist on calling it Cubbit) between Peterborough and Spalding.

Yurrr, there's some strange sounding places out 'ere in fenland.

Nowt so strange as the folks wot lives 'ere though.

I'd have asked if his uniform was a temporary set of clothes...

I assume when Skoda changes a. Vrs engine they do the dvla paperwork?

Some Skoda Dealerships have been telling the Owners of the 1.4 TSI Twincharger engines being replaced that nothing is required,

and some have been saying that for 4 years now.

They say the New Complete engines (Refurbished or New) arrive without Engine Numbers and they stamp the Original Engine Numbers on.

What an odd thing to try and tell owners. Basically that Engines leave the Production Line

or the VW Remanufacturing Plant without Stamped Numbers.

Just Stickers & Barcodes to travel around the world.

Luckily other Dealers do what is required with the Letter & Invoice, notify the DVLA, & Stamp and alter the Service books.

Skoda UK HQ has confirmed correctly to some that asked about changed Engines & Numbers, what is required.
