Magifoam lance causing karcher to stall

Featured Replies

Tried my new magifoam lance today. Works we'll except my karcher k6.5 keeps cutting out. Works fine without the lance. Tried changing to a different tap, that's off mains water, has really good pressure but still the same.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

Alastair

Sounds odd - not personally observed such an issue.

Have you adjusted the mix control on top + or -...... to see if this changes the behaviour?

I tried, had an effect on frequency of the cut outs but didn't stop them.

How old is your jet washer?

I suspect the karcher is not man enough for the lance. This is why I went for the Nilfisk although the Pressure is similar the throughput volume was 440l per second rather than

something like 300 for the karcher. Unless you have one of the larger higher spec karcher models. I suspect its stalling because it cant keep the flow rate. It could be your mains water pressure aswell.

Might be a blockage in the mesh/gauze filter of the lance - but as you say its a new lance...  very unlikely.

Maybe the Karcher is on the way out and struggling here?

It's a fairly beefy unit, it is about 8years old though.

I'd get in touch with Autobrite on this.  If the PW works fine with normal attachments like the vario lance (try it on low pressure setting) then it is likely an issue with the lance.

The K6 is a pretty burly unit and more than up to the job of foaming if it's running right.

My little £40 K2 does a great job with the snow foam.

It sounds like something is restricting the flow and causing the PW to protect itself.

How is the actual foam it produces, if you can get any?

Just worth checking....does the connector (mains-hose to Karcher) have one of those "water-stop" valves in it?

I had a problem with new Nilfisk that just didn't like running with one of these fitted. Replaced it with a "normal" hose connector and everything was fine. Don't know the reason why and neither did Nilfisk's helpline!

When it works the foam is nice and thick. Or it can be fully adjusted.

It runs fine with no lance attached and fine with the vario karcher lance.

Hose was about 25m long and runs through a reel. Also has a least one water stop connector.

I will shorten hose run to minimum, about 5m and remove inline water stops.

Thanks for the help!

Tried again today, this time short hose and no reel. Still had two water stop connections but it worked alot better. Only cut out a couple of times, think next step is fot two ordinary connectors and it should be fine.

Fingers crossed for you! Let's know if removing the water-stop connectors makes any further improvement...that was the problem with my Nilfisk.
