Wheels Repainted and a Wash and Polish

Featured Replies

Although the wheels on my vRS weren't kerbed or damaged, they were beginning to look a bit shabby and dull, so I got a price for them to be powder coated at one of the Wheel Specialist centres and was shocked at how much their prices had increased since I last had a quote about a year ago (for my last vRS).

I was beginning to feel a severe pain in the wallet looming until I saw my brother in law, who had had the wheels painted on his Audi TT by a local man in a van service called Awesome Wheels. They looked pretty good, so a booking was made and the job completed and I am very happy with the results.  The owner's name is Paul and he works for quite a few local dealerships, including Porsche.  He has a bead breaker in his van to push the tyres back from the rims and at my request he removed the balance weights before repainting to enable a full colour change to be carried out, replacing them with new when the wheels had been done.  Time will tell how long the finish lasts, but at just over half the price quoted by The Wheel Specialist, I will be able to afford to have them repainted again in a couple of years, if necessary.

Although my car is always kept reasonably clean, I celebrated by giving it a good wash, followed by a coat of Megs Ultimate Liquid Wax and dressed the tyres with Megs Endurance Gel.

You can usually knock them down( wheel specialist) £280 I paid at Garforth, previous owner had painted them black

I tried everything I could think of to get a discount from the wheel specialist in garforth and they wouldn't budge when I had my Audi, I need my Octavia doing and I have just had a 1 day turn around quote from them of £393.60. It was a good job I was sat down, I only wanted a colour change (to get rid of where the wife has curbed it I might add !).

I called Brian at TWS Garforth a couple of weeks back and got it discounted to £300; for my girlfriends car.

If you mention the R36 Owners forum and the group price we got for refurb on 4 wheels...... you should get a better result - i hope.

I also offer to make the car available at short notice - so that if he gets a cancellation - he is eager to get your car in to keep his team busy.

I was quoted £380 at a nearer branch of the Wheel Specialist to me (Garforth is just too far away), where I was quoted £250 last year.  The increase must be the effect of our growing economy . . . . . . . . I just wish my salary had increased by over 50% too!

Its a shame as I really wanted to get them powder coated, but there are other financial considerations to make at the moment.  However, I am very pleased with the quality of the work on the wheels and as I said in my original post, I can almost afford to get them repainted again for the difference in cost between what I paid and what The Wheel Specialist wanted to charge.

I would get them sealed now

+1 to this

Gtechniq Wheel Armour or Carbon Collective's Platinum Wheels while they are still mint.  Chris has the latter on his alloys and they looked immaculate.

I am not in North Yorkshire anymore, but not sure how to update my location, I might give the local wheel specialist a call to see what they can do.
