A question of transport!

Featured Replies

Ok, bit of an off the wall question, but:

my bf has an Audi Coupe which is sat in a lock-up garage at the moment in Adlington (Lancs) and we need to get it transported to my house in Warrington (Ches) - it's only about 25 miles, and he's tried some of the local garages but noone seems interested in helping him out (the car isn't roadworthy at the mo so we can't just drive it over)

Can anyone suggest someone to try... or even give us a hand with a trailer or something?? There may be a few beertokens in it ;)

Tow it?

don't really wanna tow it... like I said, it's not really road-worthy (yet ;) ) also, it hasn't been driven for 5 years.... so it needs transporting...

Join the AA and tell them it conked out when you were driving it..ask them to transport it to your destination...

Anyone you know got a car/van with a towbar? If so you can hire a car transporter trailer...

I did when I transported my old Scirocco from Scotland back to England a few years back....

cheers

My mate would do it for 55p a mile, but I don't think you'd pay the mileage from Devon. Might be far fetched but he does little auctions on ebay for transport services, so might be worth a simliar thing for you? Generally most people should transport for 60p a mile for "man + car + car trailer". If you find some local then its good because you do have to pay mileage from place of work to where the car is + from destination back to their place of work.

Make sure whoever does it uses a proper car trailer and at least two well secured beefy ratchet straps. :)

thanks for your help folks.... have managed to track down a garage that's local to me (rather than local to where the car is now ;) ) that does recovery..... gonna cost about 85p a mile but at least they've said they'll do it..... and on a Saturday too :)

I've seen their truck by the way... and it looks pretty sturdy ;)
