Fk ak street adjustment?

Featured Replies

Hi I fitted fk ak street coilovers to my Octy vRS over the weekend(never had coilovers before). All is well apart from it took 12 hours because everything was seized and rusty.

anyway sorry if this seems a daft question but if I have to make adjustments which way do I go, up or down if I want to go lower? Same for the rear up or down?

The fronts are set half way with some arch gap, I am yet to swap over the rear with the front being a nightmare and running out of time.

Thanks guys [emoji4]

In my head I think you wind the adjusters down to go lower...

Sorry im tired I think ive sussed it lol.

Yep twist down to lower it and up to heighten it, same with the backs. Also if you can, try doing the backs together so you can drop the axel down and both standard springs should be easier to come out, they should fall out.

Yep winding platform down( clockwise) lessons the spring tension so lowers car. Winding spring platform up (anti clockwise) compresses spring so raises car. Also grease the platforms well else they will seize..

And I will be doing both rears at same time, hopefully more straight forward than the front... lol

Wind them down to go lower!

You should of copper greased them up prior to putting them on, mines been on about half a year with no adjustments (nearly the lowest) and i can move them freely.

Well today went well... not. Cant for the life of me get the 2 top bolts undone on the shock mount.

Ive done me back in trying for hours, used a full can of WD40 and just decided to call it a day achieving nothing but chipping the paint on my arch :(

Best if you have a long reach extension and a big power bar

Streets have masses of adjustment too which is a good thing, the rides not bad too ;)

Iirc the mk1 is the same as the mk2 and you have to undo them from under the wheel arch?.. Get a decent long extension on and make sure the sockets sat right as there at a funny angle. Plenty of brute force should see you right, then just grease them up before you put them back.

I tried an extension but because of the angle i kept slipping off, Its going into a friends garage tomorrow and hes going to see what he can do.

He said he would swap the shocks over if I wanted then I sort springs out at the weekend.

I didnt want to go too low, my other half wouldnt be too impressed lol plus roads in sheffield are appalling.

Ive greased and set rear adjusters to half way assuming itll be about the right height as the front, fingers crossed because ive read they arent easily accessible once fitted?

I know how you feel, I'm only at ollerton (other side Worksop) and there not much better.

Did you try a shorter extension so you could get the angle?

He may aswell do the springs if he's doing the shocks tbh as it'll be a lot easier once he's got the shock off anyway
