gearbox? noise in 4th

Featured Replies

i'd just like every furby vrs owner to do a little test for me next time your in the car, when tootling along in 4th gear at 1500 rpm, floor the accelerator upto 2000 rpm and listen for a noise, poss vibration like, from below the gearstick area. mine's had this problem from new, its only in 4th gear and between 1500 & 2000 rpm and is starting to annoy a little.

my dealer said they can hear the noise but carn't do anything about it which to say that to me is like a red rag to a bull and now i want it sorted

please give this a go but try to do exactly as described and report back if it does or doesn't

many thanks to anyone who trys this for me :D

Mine does it too, 2005 vRS about 5 weeks old now, noticed it at around the same revs when accelerating hard, was going to mention it at the first service at is has not got any worse, other than that thrilled with the car!

Well this lot is what's underneath the gear linkage - could it be the exhaust isn't sitting right on its mounts?

whilst the car was in for its service the dealer said they've checked everything, the exhaust, the heat shields and other things but couldn't find the culprit. i want to remap the car but not untill i know its in perfect health as any future fault will be blamed on the remap.

thanks for the reply peeps

by the way mine is a 13k '04 plate vrs (bought new) and i also think the car is brill, just that little annoying noise
