How much value does having a Columbus add to a car?

Featured Replies

I'm away to sell my Octavia and am not sure whether to keep the Columbus that I fitted. What value do you think it would add to the car's price by having it in there?

I know it probably makes the car more desirable having it fitted but does anyone think it's going to add the £400 ish to the car's value that they seem to go for on their own. I'm thinking about putting the Stream mp3 back in and hanging onto the Columbus as I'm sure I'll have another Octavia in the future at some point.

No extra value

As above, no additional value however it might help you sell it.

Personally i'll pull it out and put the OE unit back in, sell the columbus separately.

Agree with the previous post.

Easier to sell, but no significant extra value (they are only £4-500 on eBay anyway).

They're so readily available at reasonable cost now that arguably the wow factor has gone.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm going to put the Stream back in and hang onto it I think.

I did this with my RNS315 when I passed the car on and got another Octavia. The unit is worth more separately than as part of the car.

More desireable yes but more valuable no...

You could say you will include it with the car for £400 or it comes with the Stream MP3 if not.

Better to pull it of and sell separately...more value...if you mention this to potential customet it can get confused...pull out everything that have value...best practice...

That's it all back to the standard stereo and the car advertised now. Just need the phone to ring! I was actually surprised by the price when I put the details in webuyanycar but not sure how much they would try and reduce the offer price once you are there.

WBAC will knock you for every minor dink, stone chip, and scratch (inside and out) and then charge an "admin fee" on top.

Do you have the code for the Columbus? This will greatly ease selling it.

I do have the code and paperwork from a dealer to show it came out of a UK car which got a replacement unit fitted but I think I'm going to hang onto it just now as I'd like to have another Vrs at some point.
