I bought a 1.4 TDI Fabia Greenline for all the right reasons - mpg, leg room, quality, etc.
Not wanting a love affair just a practical motor that won't bite back.
But I love it anyway - it is the best car I have ever owned.
It is a superbly practical super-mini for every day, plus I can extend its carrying capacity with my new (superb, and I have had a few) Thule roof bars and ski box.

My previous best cars were both diesel Golfs, bought new.
Not wanting to labour the engine at low revs, on my first tank of fuel I got 66mpg, not bad.

I now get around 73 mpg each tank full.

The only problem, so far, is the pop-off wiper linkages. This is a serious deficiency in "The Kalashnikov of motors".
Please do not respond here I am starting a new topic or contributiong to an old one.
This, apparently, is symptomatic of many new cars across all makes.
I was lucky to get my "education" during a local torrential downpour- but it was not critical, as it would have been in an emergency or on an extended tour.

But if you cannot see - you cannot drive.

To replace the plastic wiper linkage "pivot cups" (please excuse terminology) you have to buy a new linkage arm - which costs only a few pounds.

Knowledge of the problem is not enough. You need the tools - including, possibly, a wiper arm puller.
Plus you need to know how to get at the linkage and motor.

Currently haynes only have a manual for the Mk 1 - how relevant is it to the Mk 2?

If a grinning idiot in a Fabia waves at you, in North Yorkshire, then please wave back.
