Octavia 1.9TDI ambiante will not pick up to cruise

Featured Replies

Hi

have owned the above skoda for 4 years now and it has 170k on the clock, serviced regular by Skoda and never had any problems.

However the last couple of months I am experiencing the following problem. The car will pull away and behave as normal going through the gears to say 50-60 miles per hour, no problem very smooth, then when you put your foot down a bit further, say to overtake, the car just does not pick up, it just stays at the same speed, for possibly 5 to 10 seconds before the speed increases to how it should perform.

This also happens when cold in the morning and I would liken it to when we used to have manual chokes on cars, it will reach 30 to 40 mph without missing or spluttering but just not pick up as it should until its ready to do so.

So the problem is whether the engine is cold or hot, just wont pick up when you need that bit of uumph until its ready

any suggestions welcome please

replace the rubber  vacuum pipes

There are a few things you can check.

When you put your foot down is there excessive smoke from the back or any loud whoosy noises from the engine?

Any warning lights coming on?

Phil
