Isopropyl on heated rear window

Featured Replies

Morning,

I have quite a few smears on the inside of my rear window and in bright sunlight it is very bad. I have tried autoglass but it just smears. Is it safe to use isopropyl on the inside? I will wipe in the direction of the elements to try not to damage them.

Thanks

Yes, I use IPA for any stubborn marks, have used it on rear window several times on 3 cars, no issues. In general, if any solvent is "safe" to use on car glass and plastic lenses, it is IPA (or isopropyl alcohol)

Yes, I've used it too....you might try a 50:50 mixture with water first.

Surprised the Autoglym stuff isn't removing these, is it the screen cleaner blue cream stuff you using?

IPA is good but I go over with IPA first and then the Autoglym to finish.

The screen has to be really greasy for me to do that though.

Should be no issue - as stated above... a 50:50 mix should be good to remove the worst smears;

Thereafter it is very easy to stay on top of the interior glass if you detail your car regularly.

If you don't fancy the IPA route then AG glass polish is good as well - but very dusty; AG fast glass is ok thereafter,
