Passenger door card removal. Need help. Working on car right now

Featured Replies

I'm installing my speakers and need to remove both front door cards.

I have removed 2 screws from left and right side of passenger door card. And 3 from the bottom. I know there is something else I'm not doing.... Plz help. I'm outside now so quick answers would be appreciated.

I've done my search online and absolutely nothing comes back with what I need. Thanks

Your grab handle is in two halfs and needs prising apart to reveal another screw (or two, can't remember), go careful as the handle marks easily, Look for the line where they meet and prise with care.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Use a rocking motion to help pull the outer part of the grab off. There are plastic barbs in the mouldings so the force required can be high. One of mine took several hours using a combination of a thin tool in the gap, a rocking action and a very strong constant pull. When you put it back, spray with silicone oil to make it easier next time. You will see two large holes, each containing a big screw which you need to remove.

I seem to remember I needed to remove the tweeter on a front door. Prise off the plastic tweeter trim an disconnect the wiring.

Pull back the door handle and you will find one small screw. Undo this and remove the handle trim.

Should all be loose now so push up the door card (hard thumps on the bottom) to disengage with the weather-seal at the top but STOP before pulling it off entirely. Reach behind and unhook the door handle operating cable.

If you cut or pull off the plastic membrane, make sure it is totally watertight before putting the door card back. Failure of the membrane will give you wet carpets.

Finally, while you have the access, check for corrosion on the pins of the plugs and sockets of the wiring harness. This is a common reason for central locking and electric window lift failure.

Is there much that can be done here if it is corroded?

All sorted. Thank you :-) however, when I shut my door, it did not open again. So, I improvised... My door car is now in 4 bits and totally destroyed. Just bought a new one from ebay. So, I now have no door card, managed to blow a couple of fuses, cut my hand and make my neighbours think I'm a maniac. Still, speakers are in, looking good, amplifier didn't turn up either. And my rear passenger door doesn't open either. And broke a plastic trim of the door. FML

Cable has probably become detached from the door card during refitting. I usually double check fitment like I've got OCD before finally screwing in all the screws.

This is exactly what I do. You do need to be patient don't you:)

Easy done and can come off whilst trying to hold panel is place and mess trying to clip in window runner. Again patience is key.
