Recommendations for cleaning products?

Featured Replies

Having started off with a post saying I Iike a nice easy life when it comes to cleaning cars, I'm getting less lazy and keener to do it right!

I'm currently using:

Megs NXT car wash

Autoglym SRP

Collinite 476 (as recommended to me on an earlier post)

and any other old product that I have kicking around..

So, can I have recommendations/thoughts/opinions for:

Drying aid (I live in a very hard water area)

Leather conditioner (full leather seats- well, as 'full' as you get on a Skoda!)

Dash/trim cleaner (the one Iuse leaves the dash streaky and shiny)

Wheel cleaner (or should I seal the wheels, and clean with normal wash?)

Windscreen cleaner (currently using household window cleaner, but it does not get rid of road film)

And anything else that will keep my car looking good (but still with not too much effort :) )

All opinions and advise gratefully received :)

The products I use (and are happy with) are:

Megs NXT car wash - Megs Gold Class is IMO better

Autoglym SRP

So, can I have recommendations/thoughts/opinions for:

Drying aid (I live in a very hard water area) - Megs Last Touch

Leather conditioner (full leather seats- well, as ‘full’ as you get on a Škoda!) - Dr.Leather cleaner (also available as a wipe)

Dash/trim cleaner (the one Iuse leaves the dash streaky and shiny) - 303 Aerospace Protectant

Wheel cleaner (or should I seal the wheels, and clean with normal wash?) - Autobrite Very Cherry, but once they are sealed you will only need it one or twice a year

Can't disagree with that selection of highlighted products from Gizmo68....

But to add my current products in these areas...

Leather - Currently using Sonus Care kit; but interested in Gliptone and LTT next time i buy.

Dash/Trim - i have recently started using Auto Finesse Total and Spritz

Wheel cleaner - Iron-X to get clean; plus Sonax BSD after a full wash thereafter

Wheel sealer - ceramic sealer such as Carbon Collective Platinum Wheels

Hope this helps.

Can't argue with the above I would say the Dr Leather wipes are easier to use then use Gtechniq L1 to protect it!

Dash cleaner is Auto Finesse Spritz for me.

Agree with all the others though :)

Beat me to it Ste!

(Welcome back by the way!)

Cheers Ben - good to be back...

As above I've just sealed my black neptunes with carbon collective and now I just snowfoam and use normal AG shampoo with a dooka wheel mit-you need to prep the wheels to make sure they are really clean-ironx, tardis and 50%IPA. Apply with makeup pads and be careful to wipe any excess off with an mf cloth as it starts to cure straight away, but once done it supposedly lasts 2 years. Again as above after drying ( I used a pet dryer now off ebay for £60ish) I give them a quick wipe with the cloth I've used to apply sonax BSD to the rest of the car. It really is a lot easier to keep them clean once sealed.
