greentech

Featured Replies

hi guys

whats the different between SE and SE greentech?

there is a used SE greentech for sale at local skoda dealer on their website. i cant see any different from standard SE trim

can anyone explain whats the different between them two,

thanks

The greentech has stop start and an energy recovery system; there will be a stop start deactivation button next to the heated windscreen switch.

Very few cars seem to have this equipment though, as the extra cost, albeit just a few hundred pounds, is not really recouped in two or three years of ownership.

Mind I suspect all cars will have this kit when the new euro6 emissions regs come in later next year.

why would there be a dis-activation switch there?

There may be times you wish to keep the engine running when your not moving, or you may not like stop start so you have the option to turn it off but I believe you would have to do this on every start.

For the 1.2TSI 105 particularly, it can save £75 a year in car tax. With the other engines there are much smaller or even no savings.

May also make the VED cheaper, it did on my Citigo (nil), not sure about it on a Rapid though.

Deactivation switch is exactly that, turns the stop/start off. Handy to use if you are only stopped for a few seconds rather than a few minutes, I generally switch mine off at the switch as soon as I've started the car. Only used really if I know I going to be stationary for longer than a minute or so.

i understand. but why would you want to turn it off? is it very annoying feature?

also, does greentech have different or extra parts? ie, bigger battery? or bigger starter motor. would they cost more if things goes wrong comparing to standard SE trim.

thanks again

Some people don't like stop start but I had the system on a previous car and found it no problem; bizarrely I've sort off missed it since I switched back to a car without it.

Believe the car does have a different battery, starter etc. for obvious reasons, plus the energy recovery system. So yes in theory there is more to go wrong if you were planning long term ownership.
