As you may remember i have posted several times about a rhythmic squeak eminating from somewhere on my Fabia VRS. (4k, new since June) The dealer (farmers in Leicester) tried to fix it once before but no joy.

Took it in today and the squeak was pinpointed as coming from the rear brakes (despite me and the dealer being convinced it was from the front the time before!). Turned out that the pad had got "stripped", probably a manufacturing defect, the pad was replaced and the squeak has now gone!

I'm obviously hoping that the noise is gone for good, just wondering, me being a total berk when it comes to mechanical terms, what does the word "stripped" mean when referring to a brake pad?

I guess the brake lining was coming away from the steel on the pad, which happend to my bike once. but not certain
