1.6 tdi 105 elegance greenline

Featured Replies

hi

i currently drive a 63plate octavia vrs tdi and am thinking of getting the yeti and passing the octavia to the wife for her to use.

My small concern with the yeti is the smaller engine, anyone got one? is the 105bhp ok for normal use, mostly a roads?

other than that does anyone thing i'll miss anything spec wise out my octavia?

thanks!

Depends a lot on your driving style and expectations. I would get a test drive to see what you think of the performance. The Greenline is designed for economy - not speed. The Elegance Trim is good, but if you are going for new, there are lots of options to choose from. Good hunting.

thanks for the reply.

id be looking at getting it on a business lease as its only £150+VAT a month, wouldnt really want to load it with options as the price will shoot up!

thanks

If you're coming from a vrs tdi I think you'll find the performance a bit lacking.

I replaced my Yeti 170 tdi with the Greenline 105 and for 95% of the time it was fine.

However ,if you want to overtake a couple of HGV's or accelerate up a motorway gradient.....

I'd also suggest a good test drive.

I like mine, slightly slower than my previous 110bhp 2wd, but if you use the gears it goes quite well. But regularly see around 60mpg on a long run, so much better than the previous cars 50 or so on the maxidot.

No where near as fast as my wifes 100bhp fabia estate though

You can always stick a CRDt+ unit on it from DTUK, I did on my 2014 Greenline and it's fantastic :)

Unfortunately not if it is a company lease car like mine......

As is mine, you just pop the unit off when sending it in for service :)

True, but after the accident that may not be possible, and I certainly would not want to lose my job just for a little more go out of the car.

Indeed as most of my miles are for work, not pleasure and I can only claim back a fixed rate per mile driven; hence I take great pleasure in extracting every possible mpg whilst working!

Had a 12 plate greenline ‘give it some’ from the lights today after being overtaken by our 170, it certainly went OK, but I would not call it quick, FWIW I overtook him and the car in front of him on a steepish hill and I assume he did not have the power to follow me (the overtaking lane was only about 300 yards long) as he didn’t try to follow... but soon overtook him when he had the chance.

I get that, it's my company so in case of an accident I'd be ok.

As for mpg (which is already amazing) I got 80more miles on a tank based on a like for like long trip I do based on brim to brim.

I passed a 170 4x4 at 80, he's was doing about 60, think he was trying to get the same mpg as me ;)

Perhaps he wasn't in a hurry ;)

That's interesting as it has killed the mpg on our 170 (6+ mpg less at a steady 70 on CC on a 250 mile trip)

Driving styles, load weight, gradients even weather make a difference, bit more power usually leads people to use it a lot more :)

Fully appreciate all the above, but this was on a run from Cornwall to the midlands and back to Kent.

The aim was mpg, so light throttle everywhere, interestingly the trip back (with the box disconnected) also saw 30+ mins of M25 crawling, an extra person and luggage and an increase in mpg!

Kent - Midlands - Newquay (3+1 map - new box and maps) @ 70 MPH = 43.46 mpg (power was used a bit on the A30 for overtaking purposes only - all at legal speed limits)

Newquay - Midlands as above @ 68 MPH = 44.01 mpg (clear run, with approx 10 miles of 40/50 MPH roadworks)

Midlands - Kent @ 70 MPH (box disconnected) = 50.85 mpg (inc 30 mins of crawling M25 traffic)

Wow, if I do a long trip of mixed A, B and motorway driving, I usually expect to see at least 58mpg now. Throw in a few 50mph roadwaorks or slow traffic and it soon goes up to 65+mpg! (on the maxidot)

Most noticeable change is the 7 mile trip commuting into Leeds for work. Previous 110bhp 2wd typically was just seeing high 30's, low 40's, on arriving, now typically see mid to high 60's. The stop and start saves a huge amount of fuel in urban driving.

Round town I'll average low 50's and long runs 60+ mpg

unreachable,  " Round town I'll average low 50's and long runs 60+ mpg "

Ditto that.

The Yeti with the same engine as the Monte Carlo is giving me more mpg.

I personally have grown to like the Yeti a lot.

Wifee loves it.

Even if those are maxidot and not calculated figures, thats not bad at all... and interesting to see a "tuned" (or at least "tuning boxed") Yeti. DId you do a thread on choice of box vs rechipping etc? Sounds like you are happy but I'd be interested in hearing more...

I am Indeed very happy, I had a bluefin in a previous car and loved the flexibility of fine tuning the car to my needs. Those options on the 2014 Yeti involved cracking open the ECU which I wanted to avoid. When the CRDt+ unit came along from DTUK I contacted Andrew who was very helpful, the option for the Yeti Greenline hadn't come online yet so I was excited to be the first. The new unit, with face mounted controls connected to the fuel and boost sensor, allowing me to fine tune between the 3 rolling road tested maps pre installed in the unit. It's everything the Bluefin offered without the need of voiding the warranty on the ECU.

Here is a pic.
