Skoda mk2 (3) roof antenna replacement

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Have a 2009 Fabia Mk2 (3 says on the back).

Had issues with the FM radio recently (poor reception) so got myselft a dash mountable aerial that made a slight improvement, but far from perfect. When I got that aerial it was certainly established that the issue is either my base unit or the cable connecting the base and the radio.

As I'm not satisfied with the dashmount aerial I'm planning to replace the roof aerial, but - wonder if someone could point me into the right direction what I could use to replace it - open to OEM, but might consider shark fin / multi aerials (FM, DAB, GPS, etc)

Also kinda keen to see if there is any howto, tutorial how to remove the covers safely to have access to the aerial & cabling without damaging the plastic elements.

did you get any help with this as i am looking to do the same?

Hi folks,

I've the same issue right now in my superb II. the Columbus is showing 0/12 satellites, so I know its water damage in the shark fin, most likely caused by putting the car through a car wash.

I was just about to order the GPS antenna for the dash.....as an alternative....because I figure that if i replace the shark fin, the same thing will happen again, so the dash aerial could be a good way forward. the Shark fin would still be the radio aerial of course.

Not sure what to do now. I was actually going to open up the existing aerial to see if i can repair the connection and maybe use a heated shroud over it to protect it from water.....

when i fitted my columbus i changed the roof aerial from se spec (fm/am & phone kit) to elegance spec (GPS, phone, AM/FM) i got the replacement from eBay of a scrap car & it works fine, car washes does kill aerials.

If anyone wants my old se spec aerial pm me as i still have it & its fully working.
