gearbox trouble

Featured Replies

anyone help got a mark 2 skoda octavia grabs in first reverse and second  and when you put it in first and lift clutch up to move then drop the clutch the is trying to go like clutch is engaged .changed clutch to conversion kit ,thought it was conversion kit causeing it ,so put dual mass back in  it .still same changed mastercycliner ,was told to try accumulator if i new wat it was

Might be worth checking the cable adjustments first and see if that helps.

Did you bleed the clutch?

It actually sounds like a hydraulic problem with the clutch as you say the clutch is engaging with your foot still on it?

First try bleeding the clutch. It uses the same fluid as the brakes and has it's own bleed nipple.

If this doesn't cure it then it's likely to be the master or slave cylinder. The slave cylinder is normally replaced along with the clutch while you have the gearbox off.

I have had two faults with gearboxes in mk2 Octavias

1 crunching gear change at 100k  changed gearbox oil and added 1 x tube of molislip the gearbox was still good good at 200k when I traded in .

2 Crunching gear change at 167k different car from above found it was a damaged gearbox bracket at the selector cables It was probably damaged when the dmf was replaced the only time the gearbox was out .
