Cleaned EGR valve and boost hoses when replaced EML is on

Featured Replies

I removed and cleaned out my EGR valve and was a bit gunked up. I put it back together and since I have had the EML on. The fault codes are 19586 which is an egr fault and the other is 18009-Relay for Supply Voltage Terminal 30. Has anyone had a simliar problem or is it just me??

Probable causes for 19586 are:

  • EGR solenoid
  • turbo boost pressure control

Probable causes for 18009 are:

  • wiring
  • engine control relay

For 19586, I would check all the fuses for the engine electrics, check any wiring you distrubed and clear the codes.

I have had this code on my vRS.  Again check the fuses. Disconnect the battery earth. Then locate the relay box.  Carefully remove each relay and replace it ensuring it is fully pushed home.  On my car the engine control relay is in position 15 (bottom row on the right).  It's an awkward job but it has seemed to work on my car.

Good luck
