VRS TFSI Thermostat Replacement

Featured Replies

Afternoon,

I believe that the thermostat on my petrol VRS (2006) needs replacing since the temperature gauge doesn't stay at 90 (usually it runs at 80 to 85 - higher temperatures during stop start driving and dropping at speed on motorways). Would this issue cause problems with fuel economy - it seems to have got a bit worse recently (driven carefully I used to be able to get 37 mpg average according to the trip computer but I'm struggling at the moment to get much more than 33 mpg on similar journeys).

Could anyone advise as to whether it is something that I could tackle myself (willing but not much experience), or whether it would be best left to a garage. If so, what sort of cost should I expect?

Thanks,

Alexander

I believe so, though I would need to check when I've got time to be sure.
