Faulty fuel gauge or switch

Featured Replies

Hi my Citigo has decided to throw a wobbly today and I'm interested to see if anybody else has had this problem.whilst parked up a traffic lights with stop active the fuel gauge goes to empty and mpg and mileage left in tank on the pid unit go to zero and do not restart when the cars does but if I pull over and restart they all work fine this has happened twice now ,has any body else had this problem?

I suppose it will involve a trip to the dealers at some point:(

Never had the dashboard issues, but my pid sometimes appears to free and stop updating the fuel stats pages - it even greys out a little like its not on mains, this happens like you say from me stopping the engine (no stop/start) and starting again. it takes a proper pid off (standby) or engine off to get it back

Thanks for the info Stooz I may I have wrote it down wrong on the pid the range goes down 000 and mpg go down 000 and gauge goes in to the red . I have had no problems today so it was either a just 2 glitches or something going wrong on the fuel tank ie float or sender or what ever they have these days just have to wait and see.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the trip computer automatically resets itself after 20 hours of driving time, or 2000 kilometres, whichever comes first. I wouldn't have thought that it would affect the fuel gauge, though.

It could be for the computer but I had no problems today so will have to wait for it to do it again or do it regularly and hopefully it show a fault .

Arrgh! I have jinxed myself. I run the PID on current journey and leave long term MPG (2) on the dashboard.

last night on the way home, the mpg(2) figure on the dash kept leaping about from 180mpg to 0 every update.

I do switch off my engine a few times (not stop/start_ but just in regular traffic jams i get on the way

Whist it was charging I left it on charge all morning came home to find it switched of and now completely flat .This is just taking the Michael ringing Skoda customer services on Monday to see what they can do about it as I think dealer should just swap it for another one.

I agree that must be faulty.

After several resets it has final charged up but I wonder how long it will hold charge for .on charge from 9 until 4.30.

What are you doing with yours in that in needs charging? I just connect it when I drive, and the charge symbol goes on then switches the charged icon about 20 mins later.

I dont do any additional charging outside of the car?

However generally I am more than happy with it, I havent had anything major go wroing, and the ones I mentioned are few and far between.

Normally I just charge in the car but when it comes up with !over the battery symbol which means to hot or cold to charge I tried to charge off the computer or phone charger . This is my second pid but I have know twigged it ,reset the unit and it will then charge up . I use it all the while but it seems just not charge for a day then I notice when it's to late and it's flat .

Ps today it's been fine and is charging I think it's to do with all my short trips in between jobs I'm just going to see how it goes for a few days before ringing dealers and skoda :-)
