Hubnut size for vrs mk 1 octavia

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Im thinking about taking my gearbox out, I was wondering if any of you guys have taken off the hub nut in the past.

Do you know what size and type of socket or spanner is used for the hubnut?

Im wanting to do a vr6/g60 clutch conversion, is there any other tools I ought to know about.

Thankyou chaps and chappettes

Dave

I think its a 36mm 12 point socket.  Could be 32mm.  I'll go check in the shed as I know I bought a socket just for doing this.

Actually its a 30mm 12 point....  Must have been getting confused with the fabia hub nut

Cheers thats brill.

thanks for going out of your way in the shed and that.

is it a thin kind or just normal?

The socket did look kind of thin.  Mine's a 1/2" drive and good job too as those nuts can be a right **** to undo.  Use your own 4 letter expletive as applicable. :)

I'll have to go and have a look in the shops for one then.

and yeah haha, i've heard theyre a right turd to do ;)

where did you buy yours from by chance? :)

Ebay special.  Needed one, ordered it, and it does the job. :)  Cost a couple of quid only I think.

Had a long bar on it too, and thus far, it's not broken.

No need to remove shaft to take box out !!!
